I lovvee this, and it feels soo serendipitous as I stumbled upon this! I've always wanted to try less/no social media without compromising eyes on my blog/art. I'm def trying these. Thanks, Francesco!! <3
I love this. I am inspired to create my list, especially since I have considered leaving the social media space in the next few years. I liked the list as well as Amelia's. Interestingly, I first chose social media because it was comfortable for me as an introvert, now it is time to explore more uncomfortable ways.
You touch on a great note. Social media can feel so comforting, especially if you’ve “trained” the algorithm in such a way that’ll show you content that makes you warm and fuzzy. That for me was interesting content about new design trends. Not sure I remember any of it though 😅
I was literally looking for something like this. I'm not naturally good at social media (or any type of socializing really). I'm so glad you gave outside the box suggestions TY💕
Thanks for this awesome resource! I've been thinking about how much I want to be engaging with social media and I appreciate all these suggestions. I'm going to try asking some local shops and cafes if I can leave some business cards there!
This is a great resource - thank you! I’m launching a CV writing business this year and really don’t want to use social media. I’ll definitely be referring back to this.
down to earth, no-bs advice on writing cvs (and writing for the purpose of getting a job in general) is very needed out there. Can’t wait to see your business come together!
This is the kind of marketing list that actually makes you want to do stuff instead of just doomscrolling more ‘hacks’ on Twitter. Love the mix of creative, IRL, and old-school tactics—low-key obsessed with the idea of a zine and a taxi ad. 🔥
Advertising is not my expertise, but even from an outsider perspective, that field has gone from the guerrilla initiatives of the late 2000s and early 2010s to boring same same, “let’s just put an ad on Meta and see how that goes” of the last 10 or so years.
And because everything is circular, I genuinely think there’s gonna be a resurgence of actual oh-wow-I-wasn’t-expecting-this kind of advertising (the positive and surprising kind, I mean) sometime soon.
The story about Lush is so real and inspiring. I've been a Meta-minimalist for about 5 years now, starting with Facebook and now Instagram, while still working in social. I can’t completely disconnect, but I do find that event and in-person marketing is so much more fun and effective.
Real-world relationship building is more fun, but it’s also spikier and more complicated and that’s why personally I’ve found it hard to prioritise. Something about being vulnerable, I think, that turning to social media has helped shield for many of us maybe? Just a train of thoughts that came up when I read your comment. Thanks for reading!
Made notes because some of these are excellent for introverts.😊👏
UHM love this. Wow. Thank you for the “gimme the list” section. My attention span thanks you.
Keep us updated if you end up trying any idea!

this is so helpful. Thank you!
Great ideas and writing! Thank you! Just subbed
Thanks for reading, Tara
All respect to Lush, and thanks for the list!
Social media was making me miserable so earlier this year I decided to just leave, but use Pinterest and ways to make myself known locally.
Super helpful - thank you!!

So glad to hear this is helpful (especially to fellow socially anxious small biz owners, if I may put us both in that Venn diagram!)
Dare I call it a circle? 😆😆

It’s easy to get into the idea that social media is THE only solution to marketing. I totally hear you- thanks for reading

A great resource, thanks, Francesco. I have saved this one and look forward to coming back to it.
Thanks for also sharing Amelia's post where you drew inspiration from.
It’s great to see this resonating with so many people. Thanks for reading, Paddy
Time to update #22 and include Substack Live on there! Haha
I’m definitely seeing that trend!

Good insight 😌. Can I translate part of this article into Spanish with links to you and a descripción of your newsletter?
Thanks for asking. Of course! 😉Send me a DM with a link when it’s out. And please credit Amelia too, her content heavily influenced this.
